A little bit of background on myself. I grew up on a farm in Cody Wyoming. Although I was small, I did what I could to be involved with my family in the day to day running of the farm. I am pretty sure that is where my love of all animal life came from. We raised cattle and hay, but we had quite a mix of not only farm animals such as pigs, chickens, lots of horses, ducks, geese and so on, but we also had lots of dogs and cats. I was very involved in the local Rodeos and I so enjoyed the closeness of community that comes along with that. Our family in Wyoming to this day are still very involved as hunting guides and with the rodeos there. I recall so many wonderful horseback trips up the Bighorn Mountains.
Both of my parents were into all types of music, however my father was a country western musician, hence my love of the music. It was so wonderful to grow up around the music world. His entire family either sang or played in some way. While I love all music, hands down country is my favorite.
My family moved to Oregon from Wyoming, and that is where I met my husband Bruce. We married and started our little family. We have two wonderful children and one beautiful granddaughter, Kaehlyn who was born in 2009. My family is definitely my biggest passion in life. We love to get together as often as we can for family outings such as trips to any kind of water, hikes and just good old fashion gatherings for meals. Our Daughter Laura is in the Financial Industry and volunteers in her community often, and our Son Stuart is in the Air Force reserves, is an EMT and is also currently a Student. He just finished some courses at Western Washington University.
We moved our family to Whatcom County about 24 years ago. The kids went to the Nooksack school district where I was involved as much as I could be either in the class rooms, on fields trips and so on…. In Oregon I even coached T-ball. I love the feeling of volunteering. It just makes you feel good to know that you are doing something to mold our children, as they are our future.
Over the last 15 years or so, I have joined my husband in his passion of motorcycle riding. I love the feeling of freedom that you get out on the open road. It really makes you feel alive. We try to stay involved with as many charity runs as we can. It gives us a chance to give back while still enjoying our passion for riding. I was brought up to always do my part to give back and to put others before myself. With that in mind, I try to always keep my eyes and heart open to those in need, and to always do what I can to help. I tend to try and help in the background , as I am not a big boaster. This brings me to one of my favorite quotes, “Pride goeth before a fall”. My next favorite quote is “Treat others as you wish to be treated”. I have really tried to live by these two principles.
As for my profession, I joined the Kelley Insurance Family in 2007 and truly feel I have grown as not only a professional, but also as a person here. I so love our customers who are truly part of our family, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
