I have lived all over Washington State, from Spokane to Selah, Seattle and towns leading up north, finally landing in Bellingham in 2009. When I wasn’t in our great state, I was jet-setting across the country (and out of country) courtesy of the U.S. Marine Corps. Thanks to the Corps and hard work, I earned my Bachelors in Business Administration and went on to achieve a life goal of holding a Master of Business Administration postgraduate degree. I was a proud member of the Bellingham Chamber of Commerce and look forward to getting elbow-deep in volunteering for the great communities in northern Whatcom.
I love being in the office, but when the opportunity to balance my work life presents itself, I spend most of my time with my two little girls, Lily and Charlie. When the weather allows, I take (sometimes drag) them to State parks and use these opportunities to teach and guide them about everything under the sun. Charlie has a blast (she’s five and very adventurous) and Lily will appreciate the experiences at some point in her life (she’s thirteen and very introverted). My hobby is using editing software to create YouTube content. It sounds nerdy, but it can be quite relaxing and zen-like.
Let me speak to the philosophy of insurance. At its core, insurance allows individuals and businesses to take risks that they otherwise wouldn’t. Transferring the risk of loss to insurance companies facilitates virtually every aspect of our modern society, it’s that grand. I am passionate about insurance for how it allows society to grow and how if something terrible does happen, the affected can be made whole. Bottom line, insurance helps people and that is what I love to do.
Favorite Whatcom County Activity: Exploring state parks with Kathleen and my girls, Lily and Charlie.
Favorite Season: Summer for the warmth, Fall for the changing leaf colors, Winter, because cold invites cuddles, not Spring – not a fan of the rain
Beverage of Choice: Margarita or a crispy cold lager
Books or Movies?: Books – Anything Stephen King (Bag of Bones & 11/22/63 are my favs). Movies – Westerns (Open Range is the best)
Favorite Inspirational Quote: “ABC, Always Be Closing.” – Alec Baldwin. Just kidding, two of my favorite quotes are, “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.” – Abraham Lincoln and, “…the true test of a man’s character is what he does when no one is watching.” – John Wooden
